Day 45 - The big news today is that the contractor called and confirmed that the remodeling project will indeed begin next Thursday, March 2. That is when we will go into exile at the Candlewood Suites, just four blocks from the house. It should be fun and interesting. Ginny likes to think of it as a campout. And for her it is a campout. We will probably cart a bunch of personal stuff over there. One goal is to get our computing power up and running. Ginny wants to get on with planning some trips we have planned for later in the year. My projects include income taxes, accounting for the losses we have incurred and working on the scanning project.
On that latter note, I have finished going through the slide trays (about 19 of them). Many were photos from various trips overseas. Photos of people are interesting, photos of a London bus aren't so much so. In the end there were 585 photos that got scanned. There are many more boxes of slides to examine. That will be a tedious process.
Today's photo is of myself taken on a Boundary Waters canoe trip with my dad and my friend Tom and his dad. It was terrific. We brought along a little 3hp Evenrude outboard which worked very well. We tied the two canoes together in a catamaran style and could really move along quite well. Since that trip I made an additional 17 canoe trips in the Boundary Waters and Quetico Provincial Park. I know John is quite the boatman. Like other things, it isn't so much the type of boat you are using, it is the fact that you are on the water and going some place. Like cameras, as long as you are out taking photos, the type of camera doesn't so much matter. If you think about it, that is probably true for whatever interests a person has.
