I am an addict. Agent Listorama is an addict. Neither of us can leave it alone. We are talking about red sandstone. We drove through the badlands in Theodore Roosevelt National Park. I was starting to sweat. I was getting nervous. I had been off the stuff for eight months. I thought I was going to be fine. I was minding my own business and then, WHAM. Right in front of me was some red sandstone. The only red stuff in the whole park. I could no longer resist. I pulled the car over, jumped out and started snapping pictures. Aaah, the rush feeling you get when confronted with red sandstone is indescribable. I gotta have it.

We are heading back to Utah in the fall for another dose. Arches here we come.

Acknowledging one's weakness is the first step toward
improvement, but because there is no cure for sandstone
deprivation syndrome, that step is just one of many
required to cope with the affliction. You are in my prayers.
