We went to Iceland last year. We took thousands of photos. I have been going back over them and pulling some out to work up into decent prints. As you can imagine, we ended up with tons of vacation snapshots but a limited number of really nice pictures. This is one of them. It is the Skalholt Cathedral. It is clearly a fairly modern building. the site has been the location of Catholic then Lutheran bishops for about 1000 years. Adjacent to this structure is an excavation of the ancient town which was a very important place.
As far as the photo is concerned, we arrived on a cloudy, drizzly day. We walked around and looked at stuff. I noticed that the sky was very interesting and that the cathedral might make a nice part of a picture. I headed out into the ruins looking for a place to compose a decent shot. This is what I got and I like it a lot. Printed up 12X18 it looks very nice.
