We spent a couple nights with our friends Susie and Italo at their house in Lincoln City. Today we drove around south on the coast to Newport where we had lunch and took this photo. We bummed around several other places then went to dinner at a restaurant named the Bay House overlooking Siletz Bay. All of us ordered the salmon dish which featured fresh caught Chinook Salmon from the area. Sometimes you get a restaurant meal that is excellent, and this was one of those times. Over the past few years we have come to recognize that wild caught salmon from the Northwest and Alaska is an order of magnitude better than Atlantic salmon or farmed salmon. Every once in a while Alaskan salmon goes on sale here and we have ourselves a fine dinner. Ginny has a great way to cook it.
I should add that Ginny and Susie were classmates at Oregon State. In the summer of 1972 they went together on a grand tour of Europe for three months. They have been close for all the intervening years.
