I decided to go out to the park again this evening. I got there a couple hours before sunset. There was quite a bit of activity with baseball games going on and at least two people having senior pictures taken. I am glad I am not a professional photographer, by the way. After a couple hours I was about ready to say screw it and go home. The sunset didn't look very promising, but I decided to watch and see what happened. I chatted with some people for a while which was interesting. Then I found a spot where I could silhouette some dead trees against the sunset and it started to look promising. As I was trying to get those shots, I noticed that a heron had landed in one of the trees, and that made for this interesting shot. I like it a lot. I only had a chance to get a couple frames before the bird left, but because I had been shooting, I didn't have to mess with settings and just took the shots.
I guess the moral to this story is to never give up. It takes time to find good shots and sometimes you get skunked. I get skunked a lot. I think I am going to have to just spend more time out there with camera in hand. That works. Easily amused, remember.
