When I got out to the airport this morning, I saw this heron in the grass right by the taxiway. I watched for a while wondering what he was up to and realized he is cooking breakfast. I watched for about a half hour. He would wait motionless for minutes and then move ever so slightly. Finally, he made a grab for something which was probably a crawfish. The ground can be swampy and we commonly see the crawfish holes. So this guy was enjoying a cajun crawfish breakfast right there in front of the hangar.
