We are on the move today. After seven weeks with Richard, Christiane, Andrew and Austin, it was time to start heading back. Richard and Christiane are going to need quite a while to get standard operating procedures in place to deal with the boys and they are better off on their own. They will have visitors, for sure. That always makes it fun with new borns in the house.

So we decided to not hurry home. Robert, Laura and Peyton can see us next weekend, so we decided to stop in the Williamsburg area for a while on the way to Alpharetta. Our GPS and other planning tools told us to take highway 95 through Baltimore and DC. That was not going to happen. We decided to drive down the DelMarVa peninsula and take the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel over to Virginia Beach. This engineering marvel was completed in 1964. I remember that and it has been on my bucket list for 50 years. Today was the day! The weather was great but it was very windy. We stopped at the one place you can get off the road with the hope of getting a few pictures. It was so windy we could hardly stand up. We bought some trinkets at the gift shop and motored on.

We arrived in Williamsburg right after dark. It was spooky because there are no street lights. Being low season and nobody moving around, we wondered if they had closed the place. We got settled in our hotel, got some chopped salads at Subway and relaxed for the evening.
