CompareN.jpg

Ginny got a new lens to take on our recent trip. It is a 70-300 Canon lens. That would be just perfect for her T5i. Well, when I looked through the photos from the trip very carefully, that lens and body combination did not perform very well. I didn't know if part of it was just getting familiar with the thing or a real problem with the combination. So I set about doing some impromptu testing and I will have to say that what I got was just about inconclusive. I tried the T5i and Mk3 with the lens and thought I had something until I looked closely after downloading the photos. I decided that the comparison was pretty much invalid because the exposures were all over the place. I did try enabling the chromatic aberration control on the T5i. Today's photo is the comparison. View it in "original" for the best look. If I hold my tongue just right it looks like the one on the left (enabled) is slightly better. The one on the right has a little more fringing it seems.

Well, it is going to take a while to figure this one out. The jury is out, the bailiff is on lunch break and the judge is asleep. The CA adjustment seemed to help, and I think a little -E/V will also help.

I'll keep that in mind.
I think it is really a result of the
chronocynclastic infindibulum, maybe.
Of course, it could be we just haven't mastered the
camera as yet.

Sounds like a case of fratostatic parallax.
Nikons don't have that problem.
