It was a rainy day in St. John's, fortunately we had planned on indoor activities for the day. We started out with a visit to the Newman Wine Vaults. These guys imported Port wine from Portugal and aged it in vaults in St. John's. There was the impression that for whatever reason, the quality of the wine was improved by keeping it in Newfoundland for a few years. This had been going on for over two centuries. Then the EU bastards got into the act and decreed that all port wine has to come direct from Portugal. That was the end of the business in Newfoundland. Don't you just love centralized government?

We also visited a pharmacy museum which was pretty interesting then we went to The Rooms, a big museum that featured very nice displays on the salt cod industry, fishing in general, native people and the start of a WW 1 exhibit about the Newfoundland Regiment. It was interesting.

Then the fun began. We went to Quidi Vidi. Today's photo is of the harbor. There is the Quidi Vidi Brewery there. We took the tour which was entertaining and we sampled some beer. We went to another local bar for a "Screeching In" which was a silly routine which included downing a shot of Screech. Then it was back to the brewery for a kitchen party and soup dinner. That was a great deal of fun. We met some locals and had a jolly time of it.
