I went out to Bay Area Park this morning to give my new 5D Mk3 a spin. I just went to shoot some pictures without much of an objective in mind. I got there at sunrise and there was some nice light to play with. I have to say the Mk3 is quieter and faster than the Mk2. I also think that image quality is much better, but haven't done the detailed comparisons as yet. I do have duplicate 24-105 lenses so going out to the field with both cameras will be easy.
Anyway, I tried a bunch of "sweet light" photos and also tried some in-camera HDR. Looking at it all afterwards in Lightroom, I decided this photo is the most interesting. It is a moon shot at 105mm. You all know the moon is a really small object even with long lenses. What amazed me was the clarity of the teeny tiny moon when I enlarged it. I was impressed. I am easily impressed. But I was pleasantly surprised by this result.
