Today was the last full day aboard our ship, the Alaskan Dream. The weather was perfect and we saw some really awesome sights. We were in an area called the Misty Fjords. These are very interesting glacier carved waterways. It doesn't take a rocket scientist or brain surgeon to see how the glaciers moved and coalesced to make these formations. We spent a while at anchor off New Eddystone Rock, so named by George Vancouver because it resembled a lighthouse near Plymouth, England. I think I got that right, John, it was the fourth one. We rode around it in the inflatable boat and watched Bald Eagles fly around the top of it. There were some harbor seals in the water. Also lots of water birds. Very pleasant.

We got underway during lunch headed for Rudyard Bay where we would spend the remainder of the day. There were lots of good geographic sights to see, but very little wild life. We spent the afternoon playing an Alaska trivia game based on what we had learned during the voyage. Our team did not win. We had a fine dinner and toast to the crew, the ship and the voyage. A jolly time for everybody. One of the deck crew members joined us for dinner and we had a good time finding out what life is like up here.

So the voyage is at an end. This is the third small boat cruise we have taken. We went to the Galapagos for two weeks and cruised the Rhine, Main and Danube for three weeks. All three were great fun. I am ready for a small boat cruise again any time. We got to know all the passengers (36) and enjoyed interacting with them. The fellow travellers on a trip like this are always interesting because they are like minded and that is why they are there. There was never a dull moment. We also had two very capable young ladies who were our expedition leaders. The provided a lot of programs and expertise about anything imaginable about Southeast Alaska.

So tomorrow starts the last two and half weeks of our trip. We have been in Alaska for about three weeks. We have seen a lot of interesting things about Southeast Alaska. We head off to the larger part of the state in a couple of days, including a trip above the Arctic Circle to Dead Horse. Look that one up one the map!

This is probably one of the most beautiful things we saw on the cruise. There were Bald Eagles hanging out in the trees and all manner of waterfowl. Even saw a few seals in the water. It is a lava tube that somehow managed to survive the glacial onslaught.

I would love to visit this rock, very spectacular.
I have been shark fishing off Eddystone Lighthouse near Plymouth.
It is nothing like this, just a normal lighthouse.
