The prop shop called and said my propeller was ready. So I went off to the shop with the prop bolts in hand because they needed to be magnetic particle inspected. Al was the guy to do the inspection and he let us watch. It was interesting. I asked him how many bolts develop cracks. I wondered if it was a common thing. He said that in 34 years of doing these inspections he had only found two. So I handed over $850 and walked out with a shiny, inspected and certified propeller. That may seem like a ton of dough (it is!) but what I got for it was a propeller that had been stripped, contoured, measured for compliance, painted and balanced. It looks great.

Yes, but will it fly? :-)

One more reason for me not to fly.

It would cost $4700! A constant speed prop is $12,000.

Very interesting John.
How much would it cost to buy the prop new.
