There was a knock on the front door, and I knew immediately what it was. It was the UPS delivery man with a package from B&H Photo and Video. Inside the box was a new camera and I was very excited. We are getting our act together for our four months of travel adventures this summer, and photographic equipment is on the top of the list of things to take along. You may remember that our G-11 died last year just two weeks before we started our big travel adventures and we quickly bought a G15. Well, that camera has become a favorite of Ginny's. She does very well with it. I had picked up a G1 X a couple years ago and I have to say that I really don't like it very much. These are the reasons:

1. It is rather large.
2. Battery life isn't so good.
3. It takes a long time to charge the battery
4. There is a range (6 inches to 4 feet) where the darned thing will not focus.
5. It is very slow on the focus and shutter release.
6. The video record button is right under your right thumb and it is easy to start recording.

Anyway, I was planning to take G1 X along until I got an email advertisement from B&H saying they are putting the G15 on sale for $150 off the standard price. That got my attention! The newer G16 has been out for a while and from what I saw in the review on DPReview, the only major enhancement was WiFi, which I am not interested in. So I asked Ginny and she said go ahead and get the G15. I am thrilled. It is a very good camera.

When we travel we take both our SLRs (T5i for Ginny and 5D Mk2 for me) and our compact cameras. There are certain situations where the compact is preferred. This may seem like way too many cameras, but it works for us. I always like looking at our photos at the end of the day and seeing how each of us often get different takes on the same situation. Ginny usually has the best.

After I read more carefully what I wrote I realized that I was unclear. I fixed the paragraph.

Questions about the paragraph beginning with
"Anyway, I was..."
1. Does "take it along" refer to the camera having
the six bad characteristics?
2. Does "they are putting it on sale" refer to the G16?
Thanks.
