So I was sitting on the couch watching television when the phone rang. I knew not to answer it for two resons. First, nobody ever calls me so it can't be for me and second, I didn't have permission from Ginny to answer it. Works for me. As I have mentioned in the past, girls have an entirely different approach to use of the phone. It is a way to talk without having to leave the house. Believe me, our phone gets used a lot because Ginny and all her goofy girl friends have this pathological need to talk. I am not sure if it makes any difference who they are talking to just as long as they are talking. Guys, on the other hand, view the telephone as a way to quickly and conveniently relay a message, like "Beers at Sherlock's?" "Yup." 'Nuff said.

So anyway, Ginny answers the phone. A minute later she comes into the room forcing me to pause the TV. Our friend Ellyn was at her Wednesday night trivia contest at Sherlock's and none of her team was there. Would we like to come over and help out. There would be beer available. Works for me. I guess they had to put in the second string. The pub is less than a mile from the house. After waiting 10 minutes for Ginny to do all the girlie things required to leave the house (comb hair, hair spray, make up, lip stick yada, yada, yada) we were off to Sherlock's. Well, the topic of the night was hats. (hats????) Yes hats. We got half of them right. I learned something tonight. That little skull cap the cardinals and Pope wear is called a zuchetto. Who woulda thunk?

Well, we had a good time. It was nice to catch up with Ellyn. I spent the evening looking at the astronaut photos on the wall and the girls spent the night, wait for it, talking. Life is good. So was the beer.
