I have had some success with transcribing my old VHS videos. I know I used six cassettes over the years, and I have been able to find all but one. Anyway, this is off the first tape and is from the fall of 1984. Richard and Robert are playing with their marble rolling rig. They had a lot of fun with that and so did I. I am going to have to find out a whole bunch about video in order to get these films squared away. I don't even know what the native resolution of the VHS recorder was. Does 458 X 344 sound right? Any of you old video experts out there could give me a suggestion on that.
I'd agree the vertical resolution is 480, number of active scanning lines in a frame of NTSC video. But the horizontal resolution is 720 or certainly higher than 333 I think. I could be wrong. Even then the horizontal resolution will depend on the camera you used. 720 was the maximum possible resolution as I recall. Vertical resolution was set by the NTSC system that your camera used. NTSC - Never Twice the Same Color. SECAM - (the French color system) Something Essentially Contrary to American Method. PAL - (the British system) Peace At Last.
