It was a beautiful day and we spent the whole thing walking around downtown Charleston and taking a guided walking tour. It was a lot of fun. One of the places we visited was this one, the Edmonston-Allston House on the Battery. This is definitely a high rent district. Residents are referred to as SOBs, South of Broad Street. This house was interesting because General PGT Beauregard, commander of Confederate forces in Charleston, observed the bombardment of Fort Sumter from its rooms. One thing that caught my eye was a boxed Purdy rifle from the 1850s with a note signed by Purdy (I don't know if father or son) attesting to the accuracy of the piece. We ended the day with Steve and Bettie for dinner and a concert.
