I just love it when a package arrives from B&H Photo. During the summer I got to thinking about what kind of cameras to take on our trip to Europe. On all previous trips I have lugged along over 30 pounds of camera equipment and found myself managing cameras more than enjoying the sights. I decided to take a new approach and go light. I ordered a G1X and 270EX flash to try out the "go light" concept. I have read quite a bit about the G1X and decided it would be the way to go. It is a little heavier and bulkier than the G11, but the testing shows it has very good high ISO performance. They also made the sensor physically larger. Although there are some shortcomings (slow autofocus, for example), I was willing to take the chance and see what happens. Ginny is going to take the G11 in place of her usual stuff as well. If we were going to the Galapagos again, I would certainly take all the heavy metal because that is a place for photography. I will keep you posted about how it goes.
