Near Baker City, Oregon is a great interpretive center about the Oregon Trail. Thousands of people endured the hardships of six months of travel to reach their dreams in Oregon. The attraction was fertile land in the Wilamette River valey (where Ginny's family farm is located). The coolest part, in my book, is that the ruts of the actual trail are still visible 150 years after the fact. It doesn't rain much out there which probably helps keep them visible.
