Another beautiful day so I headed out to the airport to fly a bit. I was greeted with this sight. Hydraulic fluid on the floor is not a good sign that the airplane is airworthy. After a bit of investigation, I found a tiny crack in the aluminum brake line that runs down the strut. Fortunately, all the tools and materials that I needed were available. The guy next to us has a collection of tools that will fill all the voids in our nice collection. So I spent about three hours fiddling with it and fabricating a new brake line. That included numerous breaks to BS with the guys next door. When I got it fixed and the logbook entry made, I decided to do a functional check flight and see if it worked. I banged around in the pattern for an hour getting my touch back. I am very rusty from the long non-flying interval.
