We met up with Ginny's brother and sister in law this morning for a clam dig. Ginny got her limit, of course. Joe and Karen got some nice big clams but didn't limit out. After the hunt was over we drove over to Seaside for a nice breakfast at McKeown's. I wanted to get some photos of the clam diggers in action. If you haven't ever been out for razor clams, you may not know that 99.9% of the action is walking around looking for the little buggers. An interestsing aspect of shooting on the beach with an overcast is that there is precious little color in the photographs. They might as well be black and white, especially when the subject is wearing light blue clothing. I messed around with B&W and really didn't get anything very interesting. So, I did what any photographer would do and went sepia toned. This is Ginny heading out over the beach at the start of the hunt.

Have you tried the English method of getting Razor Clams.
Fill a plastic bottle with a very strong solution of salt and water.
With a short plastic tube on the end.
Find a spot where you think a clam is, push the tube into the sand and give a good squirt of the solution.
The clam instantly shoots out of the sand and you grab it quick.

Thanks, Rob. I think mom is going to set a record for the most number of clamming trips in a year.

I think this shot came out great. The sepia is very nice. The scene looks very peaceful. Cool reflection!
