I flew over to Baytown today to get some gas. It was a beautiful day and a lot of people were out flying. I was number 3 at the pump. I also ended up number three for take off. At baytown you have to back taxi on runway 32, so there is a hold up at midfield waiting for the runway to clear. I sat there for about ten minutes, but what the hell, the engine was at idle and I was not paying by the Hobbs meter. This is a shot of one taking off and another getting ready to back taxi. Aviation is fun!

Looks like a busy place!

Would hope that your new flex shaft camera will let you view your combustion chambers now for a sneak peek at how things are doing.

Wasn't that 2005 had to pull all the jugs and then again a couple the next year?

Actually, even on a short hop I lean it out a bit. I figure that a little higher EGT will help keep things clean.

She must be full rich most of the time you fly, ever get to lean it out these days?

When I was a student pilot many years ago I remember calculating that. Not now, however. especially since Baytown is only nine miles from my home airport.

You mean you didn't calculate what the GPH is for a 170 at idle & taxi RPMs ? 8-)
