We returned to our volunteer duties at Fort Clatsop today. I got to do my favorite program which is the flintlock demonstration. My weapon of choice is the 1795 Springfield musket replica. I like it because it seems to be the most reliable of the choices here. For you flintlock guys, the reason I think it is more reliable is that it has a big flint and frizzen and a large pan. Some may say the lock time is slow, but that isn't an issue here. Getting the darn thing to go off on the first try in front of the visitors is most important.

slingshots can only annoy squirrels, flintlocks and make them explode. Advantage flintlocks.

But not nearly as much fun!

A slingshot would be easier to use. :-)
