Today we traveled from Edinburgh to Inverness. The route took us through the highlands near Balmoral Castle. The ultimate objective was The Glenlivet, a distillery that makes a well known single malt whiskey. We had a nice tour which was topped off with a "wee dram." I chose a cask strength 15 year old and Ginny tried the 18 year old. This is good whiskey. Turns out the Spey valley is a hot bed of distilleries. The new manufacturing plant was dedicated just two weeks ago by HRH The Prince of Wales. Ian, our guide, was an older fellow who was very entertaining. Now the sad part, this glorious part of Scottish distilling history is owned by the damned French (Pernod Ricard).
