Washington DC

Today is an historic day. The House of Representatives voted for the Senate Health Care bill. We are severely screwed. We want to be just like Canada and England (no effense to my friends from those countries intended). The ultimate sell out was when Bart Stupak, a "formerly" pro-life democrat, accepted an executive order which "fixes" the abortion language in the bill he decided to vote for this evening. Now, let me ask you, do you think that Mr. Stupak, shown here holding the draft executive order, has any idea how much he looks like Neville Chamberlin holding the Munich Agreement at Hesston Aerodrome on September 30, 1938? For you history buffs who are a bit foggy, the Munich agreement basically gave Czechoslovakia to Hitler with the promise (nudge, nudge, wink, wink) that Hitler would go no further in his conquest of Europe. We all know how that came out. So here is Bart Stupak with a promise (nudge, nudge, wink, wink) that no federal funding will be used for abortion. Regardless of where you are on the particular issue, you have to ask yourself if, given to opportunity, you would sell out on whatever deeply held belief you had for a piece of paper. Particularly if you were foolish enough to think that an executive order could trump legislation, which it can't.

So the bottom line in all this is that the House sold out and passed the Senate bill, which they would not have had majority votes for without agressive (illegal?) arm twisting. The cheapest of all these slime ball politicians was, of course, Dennis Kucinich. Nothing like a ride on Air Force One to help clarify your thinking, even though you had spent months vehemently telling everybody who would listen that you could NEVER support the Senate version of the bill.

I have no idea where it goes from here. It will be interesting. I have told the boys that they are seeing an unprecedented historical drama unfold here. Not just health care, but also the larger socialist agenda of President Obama. We are beyond the point of irreparable damage to our country, I am afraid.

Some day I just might sit down and write what I really think.

Or not.

What did you expect from a yooper?

Pathetic. In one year Obama has almost
totally taken down America.
He is a good speaker, though.
I have to remember that.
(It's a gift. He said so himself.)
Goodbye, democrats. Skunks.

We knew it was going to end poorly when CSPAN was not permitted to broadcast the Health Care hearings...

Sad day indeed.

Canadians on average live longer, get better health care, and it costs less than in the USA. Even Sarah Palin came here to get care.
