Interesting Story

090919_061P.jpg

I went to a town hall meeting with our House Representative (TX, 22nd District) Pete Olson. I had never been to one of these but seeing as how it was being held across the street at the Univerity of Houston, Clear Lake Campus, I figured what the hell. Of course I took my camera.

It was very interesting. The crowd was about 60% conservative, 5% liberal and 35% people like me who were there to see what happened. I will have to say that the 5% tended to be vocal and disrespectful to Mr. Olson. There was a lot of applause when he made his points (of course, the crowd was packed on his side of the issues). The 5% kept shouting "Liar" at Mr. Olson. I thought that was a bit poor in taste.

Anyway, Olson launched into his heart throb story about a youngster, Josh Loya, who is alive today because of a medical miracle. You can see about it here: http://www.govtrack.us/congress/record.xpd?id=111-h20090730-69&person=412302 I make no comment about it. The 5%ers started shouting LIAR LIAR LIAR before Olson could even get started with his story. He stopped, waited for decorum to return to the hall, then introduced this lady. He said, "If you doubt the truth of this story you can ask Brittany who is sitting right over there. She is Joshua's mother."

Actually, the argument was that if she had government health insurance, they wouldn't have approved the expense. Either way, the boy is lucky to have a mom who doesn't give up.

What the story omits is how this story would have played out if the mother did not have health insurance, a situation cursing many people.
