National parks in Ecuador are quite different from those in the US. The roads were terrible and there was very little developed visitor services. The visitor center was bare bones. Unfortunately for us, the weather was not very good while we were visiting. The big volcano, Cotopaxi, was obscured by clouds all the time. So it goes. We had a very nice lunch at Tambopaxi, a very remote site within the park. We had steaks which were delicious. We also had a nice soup which the Ecuadorians like to garnish with popcorn. That was also very good. Although we saw a bunch of interesting birds, the photographic situation wasn't very good because we couldn't get close enough to many of them. But all in all, we had a great time.
