Kreische House State Historic Site

Kreische home: In 1849 German immigrant Heinrich Kreische bought almost 175 acres on a bluff overlooking the Colorado River. On this site Kreische built the family home where he and wife Josepha Appelt raised six children. On the property he purchased was the Dawson/ Mier tomb, which he maintained until his death. Later the tomb became known as Monument Hill and is now a State Park.

Monument Hill State Park and the Kreische Home/Brewery Historical Sites are at the same location one mile south of La Grange, Texas. For more information, see: www.tpwd.state.tx.us/spdest/findadest/parks/monument_hill_and_kreische_brewery/
