SS Europa being moved to a dry dock for conversion to a troop ship after being captured in Bremerhaven
The Europa entered service with Norddeutscher Lloyd in 1930 sailing the North Atlantic route, she was laid for most of WW2.
After her capture she was used as a troop ship by the USN till 1946 with the name USS Europa, she was then transferred to France where she was renamed SS Liberté.
She broke her moorings while being refitted and suffered severe damage, she didn't sail again till 1950 and continued on the North Atlantic route till 1962 she was scrapped in 1963.
