The town started as the village of Hartsberg in 1906, it expanded when a CP Rail branch line arrive in 1910 and became a town in 1911 and was renamed Kerrobert, the name being derived from that of an early railroad executive Robert Kerr.
It currently has a population of over 1,000 residents
