The Sikorsky S-31 was an aircraft built in 1925 designed for aerial surveillance work, only one was produced.
The machine guns shown in the photograph were a temporary installation in an attempt to drum up business from the military, they were removed prior to the aircraft being delivered to the customer who used it for photographic work in Latin America
