Photo dates from late 1939 or early 1940. Typical of Air Ministry photos of that era the aircraft serial numbers and squadron markings have been removed.
The Fairey Battle was a light bomber operated by 26 RAF squadrons early in WW2 most were withdrawn from front line service by the end of 1940 and were relegated to a training roll.
