Commissioned in 1895 she saw service in the Mediterranean and far east before being relegated to a training roll in the earl 20th cent
With the outbreak of WW1 in 1914 she was reactivated and saw service as a convoy escort and for bombarding shore positions. She was sunk by torpedoes from U-21 with a loss of all but one of her crew in 1916.
