A view of Carrickfergus Castle, Belfast Lough, Ireland (now Northern Ireland)
The castle was built in 1177 with expansions in 1204 and 1217, several more changes were made over the years. It was a garrisoned continually for 750 years until 1928 when it was turned over to the Government of Northers Ireland as an ancient monument.
Post Norman and Victorian additions were removed to bring it back to it's Norman appearance.
