From a collection of historical signatures that I picked a few years ago we have Sir Philip Stephens (1725 - 1809)
As First Secretary of the Admiralty he was a very powerful man, he was the guy who sent James Cook, William Bligh and George Vancouver out on their exploratory voyages.
He was also Britain's longest serving MP, 47 years from 1759 to 1806
