A woman wearing the traditional dress of a Fishwife, the stripped skirt, apron, basket over the shoulder, the plaid shawl is more common on those from Scotland.
The headdress is one that I haven't come across before though each town had their own distinctive style.
The fishwives met the fishing boats when they docked and carried the fish in their baskets to the market for sale.
