A view of the Bombard known as Mons Meg, built in 1449 it was given as a gift to James ll of Scotland by Philip of Burgundy in 1454.
15 feet long with a bore of 20" and a weight of 15,366 pound it could fire a 386 pound ball two miles.
It was taken from Edinburgh Castle to the Towel of London in 1754 but returned Edinburgh in 1834 when a new carriage was built (the one shown in the picture), the carriage was replaced in 1934 with a replica of the original from the 15th century.
