The Hawker P1081 was a prototype fighter that flew in 1950, the project was cancelled as a result of not being able to meet some requires deadlines.
The aircraft was turned over to the Royal Aircraft Establishment for test purposes, it crashed in 1951 claiming the life of it's pilot.
A lot of the lessons learned on the P1081 were incorporated into the Hawker Hunter
