Peresvet

The scuttled Russian Battleship Peresvet in Port Arthur habour in Manchuria during the Russo-Japanese War in 1905.
The Peresvet left Port Arthur which was under siege with the rest of the fleet with the aim of escaping to Vladivostok, unfortunately they ran into the Japanese fleet and the Peresvet was hit 39 times forcing her to return to port.
While in port the Japanese captured the surrounding hills and began firing on the Peresvet with eleven inch siege guns, after numerous hits the Russians decided to scuttle the ship, as seen in the picture.
After the fall of Port Arthur the Japanese raised and repaired the Peresvet and she served in the Japanese navy as the Sagami. In an interesting twist the Japanese sold the ship back to the Russians in 1914 as they were then on the same side in WW1. On the journey to join the Russian White Sea Fleet she struck two mines in the Mediterranean and sunk.
