A newer postcard is something is something that I generally wouldn't bother with but this one has special significance to me.
After graduating from RAF Halton in 1967 I had to wait a few weeks for security clearance before posting to a bomber station, this Spitfire had recently been pulled from storage and I was tasked with the restoration of the cockpit instruments and electrics. My first official job.
I have followed the history of this aircraft, it remained at Halton until 1982 when it was traded for a Sopwith Pup which went to the RAF Museum at Hendon.
RW386 changed hand a couple of times before being restored to flying condition in 2007. It was subsequently sold to the Swedish company BILTEMA and is currently still flying in Sweden
