Big Bird.

Kaikorai Common, Dunedin.

A stylised Moa depicted in a local mural.
The moa were nine species of flightless birds endemic to New Zealand.
The two largest species, Dinornis robustus and Dinornis novaezelandiae, reached about 3.6 m in height with neck outstretched, and weighed about 230 kg.
They were hunted to extinction by the early settlers in NZ, The Māori.

Nice colorful artwork. Sad to know that these giant birds will never be seen again. V

a fine depiction of local flora and fauna...unfortunately the Moa are not the last creatures we will drive to extinction...

A beautiful mural with these colors and depth. Too bad the Moa are extinct, it would be fascinating to see such a large bird. "V"

A very eye-catching and compelling artwork. Sad, however, to hear of the extinction of these large birds. V

Interesting textures and patterns in the artwork! Nicely photographed to show them to us, too! :) V
