Do you know where your food comes from?

Clyde, Central Otago view map

Before you put it in your mouth make sure you know what's in it.
Shop locally and don't trust Multinational companies.

A quaint shop. Looks like you can get pretty much anything you want there.

Interesting lighting and mood. Pity the powers that be have done away with the veranders on most of the old shops. On where to tie your horse any more.

like your photo of the butcher shop
but even the local butcher can fiddle around with the origin of the meat...

Light, composition and processing - all superb. ~V~
I no longer eat red meat, but we buy local fish all the time.

A sentiment being echoed widely throughout Europe at the moment. Excellent work, John V

One of our best butchers in Nashville when I was growing up was a shop named Clydes.

Supermarkets seemed to take over the meat shops, with many local butchers closing down. It is good seeing the butcher shops re-opening again. Great looking old shop given new life..

Wonderful nostalgic image. This could be in the mountains east of here. Definitely buy local, that's what we do. Not only do you know what you get, but you also support local businesses and farmers.

cool! looks like a nice shop!

You have a great shop there, I hope it is well supported.
It's the mis-labelling to which I object.
Personally I don't choose to eat horse meat but if I did I would want to know that is what it was!
The same with beef. Like Laine I buy locally and have beef minced freshly for me.

an appealing shop apparently with a wide range of goods..good advice to go for the local and the fresh..

My meat comes from my sons butcher shop...King Island Beef, yum !! I only buy Australian vegetables and fruit and very rarely any snack type foods. I like this old butcher shop

Unless its Australian wine... :) Lovely image John! v

I so agree with you about being wary of what we consume and where it comes from!
This is a lovely capture of this old butcher's shop. V
