There was a pub in Brockenhurst called the Snakecatcher. I would stay in Brockenhurst when visiting the Esso plant in Fawley. The pub was truly enjoyable and the food was very satisfying. I remember that the Plowman was a fine lunch. A little beer added to the enjoyment. The shepherd's pie was good.
