Photo and copyright the property of Alf Frost.
Alfred William Frost joined 24th January 1946, left September 1947.
Alf was Petty Officer boy no 129 on number 6 mess.
I was on the Arethusa about 1965-1969 and I was at that open day, met Colin Cowdrey who presented me with a couple of books which I had won. Life was hard but fair, never did me no harm and I think it made me a better person. Was good at some things and usless at others but we were all in the same boat (pardon the pun) lol. I started on mess 11 Top Stbd then was L/B on Top Pt mess 10. My name, K Rendles 119. Other Geordies were: Mick Lowther 240, Geordie Attridge 234( i think). I still have the books and my final certificate like the one above. Regards to all you ARRY BOYS.

I lived with my husband and two daughters right oposite the Arethusa whilst she was moored at Upnor, from about 1965- 1970, and well remember the Open Days, and the day that Colin Cowdrey visited, I think it was for prize giving, it was a very sad day when she left, and I am sure that she was missed by many of the villagers.
