It's not the River Swale - simply the Swale. It's the sea on the Kent shore side of the island, and totally affected by the tides.

Horrendously expensive to buy and maintain. About two dozen left sailing.
The River Swale here is shallow, but these barges were designed for shallow water.
Pure English in design and build, mainly south east England.

Most interesting; I thought that wind-powered boats had not existed for a long time. Is such a craft economically viable? Are there many of them? How far up the river can they go? Are they English or foreign?
