Oh dear!....a great shot of Brighton's seaside decay...the bandstand and the West Pier. However, you should see the bandstand now......glad to report that it's been beautifully refurbished and being put to good use. The remains of the pier are unchanged, although it is now a quite famous iconic landmark, and a high observation tower is soon to be constructed at its old entrance on the promenade.
You were at Sandhurst!I should have guessed,of course,Military Bandstand/army officer class. Now the aliens "thing" all makes sense.I'm right behind you Sir,in all the best possible taste,of course.
This piece of Victoriana, does however, bear a striking resemblance to the Maharaja's Well,at Stoke Row,in the Chilterns.Except of course for the elephants, the winding gear and lastly,300 feet up in the Chilterns there's no tides to worry about, but there are
Red Kites.
Its probably the case, that somewhere on the seafront at Brighton,on the day in question, stood the band, derelicted in their duty, yet I can't see them in the picture.
