If you believe Mr Darwin, swimming is more basic than walking.
Generally Aliens do not give lifts, if they ever offer you transport, very forcefully refuse their offer. I.E. kill the bxxxxxxs.

Isn't walking,the most basic form of transport?On that precept,he could always hitch a ride with those aliens.
