Ian, I went back a month later to examine the skid marks in fine detail. By a strange coincidence they had disappeared completely.

Once again "they've" confused us,shouldn't we be trying to fathom the strange skid marks to the left of the curious raised knobby bit?

If I am ever close enough to see any animal anywhere, that is frothing at the mouth. I will make an attempt to be the fastest human on foot on Earth. This is my Plan A for avoiding said catastrophe.

John, let me know at once if you see rabid wolverines staring at this device and frothing at the mouth. It could be a sign of an imminent catastrophe.

I am in contact with people who have investigated this device. They think it is made of an unknown material. Chemicals and physical tools have no effect on it. Attempts to modify or remove it with Dekatron-valve-controlled implosions (note the dimpled stone surface) have been unsuccessful. Age could not be determined, but some investigators believe it served a purpose before being installed at this location: details are too sensitive for me to discuss. No radioactivity detected. Device emits radio waves of extremly high frequencies at regular intervals, suggesting that it is a beacon of some kind. At this point I must clam up lest I reveal too much.
