Well spotted Tom. They were fired from a shotgun, maximum range 50m, but most about 25m
They are bigger than bird shot, smaller than buck shot
Next time I am there I will look at the empty cartridge cases, there are hundreds of them,
thousands even

Re; Compared with the steel plates in the other photos

What slugs would these be here? They don't look like air pellets (can't see any skirts) but the lack of penetration in this wood seems lower power/lighter weight projectile.

22 caliber ammunition fired from long range perhaps ?
