The front half of the car was in sunshine. The rear half in shade. My camera could not cope.

Canon have a lot to learn about photography.
My mobile phone beats it in lots of situations.
This is exactly how the photo came out.

Canon EOS 7D Mark II
1/160s f/8.0 at 55.0mm iso200 full exif

other sizes: small medium large auto

The paint is special. Its commonly called "flip paint". As your angle of view changes so does the colour.
Look at the front wing. the section that is facing away from you is the same colour as the rear of the car.
But I agree, canon software is not as good as nikon in difficult situations.

weird, but a cool looking car. I took a pic of a frog once. Half in the pond and half out. Of course the water made his two parts look different colors. Or so I thought. He came out of the pond and he actually was a split toned frog.
