Why are there so many derelict boats on rivers.
Every waterway I ever see there are boats rotting away from lack of attention.

Because once bought, they are money pits. and the first time you skip a maintenance issue the boat becomes unsellable. at which stage its cheaper to pretend you never owned it in the first place.
